Default transmission swap

I own a 1977 vette with the 180 hp engine (L48). Would it be possible to put the transmission from a 1980 vette with a 305 California engine into my car? The transmission from the 305 has only 31,000 miles. Would it just bolt on with no adjustments? Does anybody have an idea what I should offer for this used transmission?

Assuming you have the TH350 trans in the '77 (could be a TH400), the '80 trans is a direct replacement. As far as what to offer, I'd start at $100. This is a pretty cheap trans to build (either a TH350 or TH400) unless you break the front pump or damage the lockup converter in the '80 TH350. If ypou have a TH400 in the '77 and change to a TH350 you need mounts, driveshaft, and a yoke. Either way the trans to engine is a direct bolt up.

the tranny will bolt right up to the engine, but if the trannys are different models there may be length or crossmember issues. I can't tell you what tranny came in the '80
