Default Electrical HELP

OK, I was trying to fish my speaker wire up to connect my new speakers. All of a sudden the smoke ecsaped from the wire. I know as long as the smoke stays inside, I am good to go. Any way the radio circut is fine, the stereo is fried. Some how, the (inst lps) upper left hand corner, circuit is now bad. No power to the fuse box on that circuit. I lost the tach and amp guage function. I have chased all the fuses and they are fine. The only thing I can figure is I blew the fused link. Where can I look to find the fused link? The car is heavly modified including the electircal. But not that part of the system is still original. Any help would be appreiciated, thanks in advance.

fuse links are either on the starter or on the horn relay depending on the year
