I am changing every bit of my brakes, all except from the pedal to the booster. I'm putting in a hydroboost, new master cylinder, all new SS lines, rotors, SS calipers, and pads. I'll be doing this during the next week. Does anyone have any helpful points? Such as getting the brake booster out or changing the lines? Thanks guys.
Many folks say you have to lift the body from the frame to replace the brake line running the length of the frame. I've never replaced that line, so I can't offer any first hand experiences. But, it's something to consider.

I have a lift, and I went up under it yesterday. It looks like I should be able to get to everything? Has anyone changed these without lifting the body?
If you can get to the junction block on the driver's side without a problem then you should be able to replace the line with the body on. I put SS lines on my car and had a difficult time lining things up with the bare frame! Those SS lines don't like to bend much.

Were you able to do it with the body on? The lines are the only thing I haven't bought yet. I wonder if I should even change them.
I just bought two lines from stock at a parts house...total length enough to do the job, and a coupler to join them never a issue...gotta figger they lasted 30 years, then the ones I put on will too....new hoses, DOT 5 fluid, O ring calipers, no springs, Hboost, and you are home free....

Why DOT 5? And I hope to be able to stop on a DIME now
I just changed mine on my 81 vette. It is not an easy task especially the last two clips near the rear block on the drivers side. so be patient. the bolt are hard to reach on the frame but not impossible to tackle. I removed the Transmission cross member it is the only way to run the line from the proportioning valve to the rear block on the drivers side. Good time to change the trans mount. good luck and have fun.
