Got the original '71 distributor in a Performer rpm manifold. Some oil is seeping past the gasket. Any fixes? Should be tight enough- afraid of stripping out the hold down bolt to go much more. Would 2 gaskets be too thick and throw off the distributor gear on the cam? How about some gasket seal? Thanks.
are you sure you didn't split the gasket while adjusting the timing? if you glue it down it mmight split. i always use felpro gasket there , there are some really cheap gaskets out there. what pump are you running , high volume or high pressure? i wouldn't run two gaskets could make the leak worse. tom

be sure that the dizzy is not bottoming out on the drive gear...first pull the dizzy and re install with NO gasket......be sure the dizzy bottoms out against the manifold.....if there is a gap then you need to shim the dizzy with a nylon spacer between the dizzy and the gasket....spacers are available as a kit with varying thicknesses....you can use several if need be.......

Correct answer. However, multiple gaskets can be used. Their function is to keep dirt/water out, not oil in. There is no oil pressure there, unless you have excessive crankcase pressure.

correct...but if you go through a lot of timing adjustments, then the two or more gaskets rubbing together while turning the dizzy will tear one of them......the nylon spacers work well here and they wont "shred" the gaskets.......jmho...
When I installed an eddy manifold I found that the pad on the manifold that the clamp rests on is somewhat lower (in relationship to the dizzy) than on the original manifold. This caused the clamp to only contact the dizzy at its edge so the clamp pressure is no longer straight down. I had to weld a 1/4" thick tab to the small end of the clamp to get the geometry correct.
Are you sure the leak is comming from the distrubuter? My 65 442 with Perf manifold leaked at the rear. At 1st I thought it was the distributer. The manifold and engine were not a perfect fit...
Hey - This was on my Oldsey. I mixed this up with my Vette...

Had the same problem with the old 350. Had same distrbutor and manifold on that. Replaced the PCV valve on the old and again while building this one.
