DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH MAGNAFLOW MUFFLERS

Year
1980-1981

Price
325.00

Set Includes:
1980-1981 Dual Exhaust Pipe set
323454 1978-1982 2 1/2" Magnaflow Muffler Muffler

Experience the true power that is now hidden in your 1980-1982 Corvette with our true Dual Exhaust. Most Corvettes show a 20-30 horsepower gain when exhaust systems are changed to true dual exhaust system. Easy to install – unlike other systems, this exhaust does not require you to install an earlier model transmission crossmember. Heavy gauge pipes are precision bent and jig-tested to provide a custom fin and look. For off-road race use only. Never to be used on the highway.

I'm looking for a new exhaust system as well; headers to tailpipes. This is the system I've been pondering:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

I'm not too familiar with Pypes, but they mandrel bend their pipes and have an "X" connector. Mandrel bending makes a pretty big difference in HP and sound. I'm curious if others have tried either of these systems.

Good Luck!

Do you know anyone else out there that makes mandrel bent 2 1/2" exhaust system for a '71?

Magnaflow has a new system for C3's - not to be confused with the Corvette Central system. Look on www.magnaflow.com for details.

Here's the exhaust at SummitRacing.com. I could never find it there because it's not labelled for search parameters, but this is definitely the right system for a '71.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Mandrel bent and 2.5" all the way through (except the tips). I never thought about doing the dual round 3" tips out the rear on my vette. I really like the look of it. They show this system mounted on the car on magnaflow's website.

Thanks for the tip! I may have to fork out the extra $220.00.

A question to ask them would be..
Is this muffler a 2 1/2" in and out or a 2 1/2" in and a 2" out?

Somehow all/most of magnaflow mufflers sold through corvette central has the 2 1/2" in and a 2" out configuration.

I and a couple others here installed the Pypes system last year. Search for Pypes as the thread title and you'll find a lot of info and some of the installation "tips". It sounds and flows real nice.

Magnaflow has 2 systems. One of them is how you're describing. The other one shows 2 1/2" header to inlet on muffler, 2 1/2" outlet on muffler, and then the outlet splits into two 3" chrome tips. At least that's how I read it.

You may be right... but I am not sure if CorvetteCentral sells them.
I bought a 2 1/2" end to end system (as advertised) from CC and it came with a 2" out.

I was pretty pissed off for a month

The point is, CC is a great seller and I have bought several parts from them, but they don't have very clear item descriptions on their website site.
You just have to call and make sure before you order.

OIC... And about CC. I like them for the most part, especially their catalogs because I tend to use them as shop manuals, but it's not a bad idea to cross-reference with the mfg or call CC, as you stated.

The CC system is essentially a stock configuration with Magnaflow mufflers. The new Magnaflow system has a X-pipe and is not the same as the stock system. They have small-block and big-block systems available but the chrome-bumper systems do not come with the rectangle outlets.

Eddie70 put one of the new systems on his LS-powered Vette. Look up his recent threads and you can see some vids of the car running. I think the system looks great and I am planning to use one on my 72.
