Default Bubba got to my tranny mount.....

Was changing out what looks to be the worn original rubber tranny mount of my '76 today and while removing one of the upper bolts (mount to tranny) it broke loose with almost no effort what so ever. Proceeded to remove it with my fingers and when I brought it down along with the bolt were threads all over fingers. Hmmm....not looking good. Obviously, the bolt hole on the tranny is stripped on the drivers side.

While I'm rattling off a few choice words I remembered that the previous owner told me he had the tranny rebuilt in the spring of '07 (I bought it in July '07). He didn't give me the name of the guy but I'm pretty sure now it was Bubba

Not sure of what to do now I measured the depth of the hole in question and found it was somewhat deeper than the bolt/lock washer. I lucked out and had on hand another bolt about 1/4 inch longer than stock and proceeded to turn it in by hand. I got lucky and caught some threads deeper in the pocket. I didn't torque it to spec but did run it in enough to compress the lock washer. Hopefully this will hold for now....

Anybody else ever experience a stripped out tranny bolt hole? What advice or fix did you apply??

A heli-coil would work good.
