Default Radiator Installation

Trying my best to get new radiator in.

Fan removed
water pump removed

Shroud just refuses to go around A-arms.

Anyone done this before without taking upper A arm off?

Does radiator and shroud have to go in as one?

I just did this a few weeks ago. I left the upper trans cooling line off for extra clearance. I took the extension ring off the shroud to make it more flexible. Side bolts out of the core support and angled forward at the top as far as possible. Put the passenger side of the shroud in first and force the left side down past the control arm bolt. Not an easy job.

Just did mine in my 73. What you need to do is: put the shroud in first. then lean it towards the front of the engine. then slide the radiator down in the space between the shroud and the rad. support. you will need 3 people to do this 1 on each side and 1 on the bottom. Reach up and guide it in while the 2 on top lower it down.make sure the shroud ring is off, that gives more room. AND DON'T forget to tighten up all the hose clamps. I forgot my lower rad. hose. The next morning I went in the garage, to a large puddle. My heart dropped. I thought something was major wrong. Luckily I only had water in the system. It was a new radiator, and they suggested that I flush the system, first. I had the thermostat out and I ran water through it then drained it. Blew it out and put straight antifreeze in it. A radiator repair person told me that I'll lose a little if I was to drive it in the winter(I DON'T) But he said he has naever seen a radiator go bad with straight antifreeze. You open the radiators in my other cars, their is no scale rust, etc. and I've never had a problem

Yes I have a 75 to I split my Shroud in two pieces a top And a bottom piece (you cant even see the crack ).
First cover the cores with cardboard dont need no horor stories .
then put the bottom piece of the shroud in just the big back piece keep the 3 inch ring in one piece.
Mount your rad and put the bottom hose on, clamps and all make sure there are tight.
Put the top part of the shrouding on then mount the inner ring put he top hose on re install all the brackets add 50/50 anti-freeze ,go for a ride .

The core support must be taken loose. Once you have it loose and pushed back the rest is easy. I also recommend you take the hood off too.
