I did a complete Body Off restoration on this 69 Coupe. I thought I took enough pictures and notes,but.... I can not remember how many places there were grounding straps. I can't seem to find any reference to where they all are. I know some items are grounded through ground wires in the harnesses, but I rember a good amount of grounding straps that were woven metal type strips. Is there someone who knows where I need to ground this thing? Also, any one know how the Radio Antenna base plate attatches under the left rear fender? Does the antenna hold it up or is there other attachments I don't see?
Hi DP,
I believe the 69 had 2 braided copper straps on the tail-pipe clamps that bolted to the frame at the transmission cross member. Anotherbraided copper strap is connected between the drivers side underbody reinforcement and the frame, at about the level of the driver's left foot.
The radio antenna plate is held on by the antenna cable at the base of the antenna. A solid copper ribbon ground strip runs from the antenna base to the frame.
Regards,
Alan
Thanks Alan, I was aware of the radio antenna strap as I was trying to figure it out this week end. Car not painted so will wait to push antenna through. I could have sworn there were a lot more straps when I dismembered this car 2 years ago. I had the frame powder coated, will I need to chip away a little to make good grounding contact?
My 73 has two small braided copper wire conected from the #1 chassis mount to the metal rocker channel both sides. The pass side engine support to the block. The antenna GND plate And of course the Battery GND to the frame

I have the antenna ground, who sells the others? Ecklers or Corvette Central?
