Default burnt wires, need help

here we go, this is what I have. 1980 70 amp alt. that has died, over volting the system. burnt the wires from starter batt lug to fusible link(one wire, link, two wires) every thing appears to be ok. now this is wierd. my alt charging wire goes to the batt lug on the starter. not to the batt junction block. I don't have one. nor do I have an wire going from battery to the junction block, again don't have one. what gives...is this factory or an bubba repair. looked at harnesses to see what I need, but they all state to get the alt charging harness, which goes from alt to batt junction block....Please somebody with any info chime in, or some one with an '80 check theirs, and let me know what is going on..

also who knows where I can get new fusible links or thermo links, whatever they are called.....

autozone has fusible links. supposedly you go 4 sizes smaller than the wire it is protecting.
ie 10 gauge wire needs a 14 gauge link

Fusible links are available at Autozone or any of those type of stores. Easy to install. One side is going to have an ring tongue lug on it and the other end will have a butt splice on it.
As for the harness, I am not sure what you have there. Kind of sounds like someone has added some wiring. Hopefully someone with an 80 will chime in and help you out there.

My 79 did not come with a junction block. So, I imagine your 1980 did not either. I added one near my alternator to re-wire my headlights to relays.

thats where they ultimately go which is a direct connect to the battery...be sure it is a heavy gauge wire and soldered......btw on some models there is a black wire with a large lug in the vicinity that is the GROUND for the blower motor.....dont hook it to the hot post!! a common mistake....
