My father just bought a 4 speed 75 convertible. It seems to be a good purchase so far. I replaced the whole brake system and I am starting to go through the rest of it. I noticed when I drive it before I shift the gears (when the rpms get on the higher end, about 3K or so) it makes a screeching sound before I shift the gears, sounds almost like a belt but not certain. Belts look in decent shape. Maybe the tension wrong on one of them or replace them all just to know its been done? Also how in the world do I turn the bright lights off? I have looked all over this car and just can't figure it out!
For the brights, there is a button on the floor. sit in the car and feel with your left foot up high near the fire wall. just move your foot off the clutch petal and to the floor. its right there.
for the screeching noise. have someone sit in the car with the engine running. open the hood and listen as they rev it up. Where does the noise come from? the belts? or the engine? is there black dust all over near the belts? what your oil look like?
