Default Thermostat problem solved but.....

It solved the problem to good. Now it takes quite a long time to warm up. I drilled 3 small holes in the Tstat to solve the air bubble problem. That worked fine but it took a while to warm up. Probably would have been OK with just one hole. Once it was warm it was no problem.

They have them for around 9 bucks at Autozone if you want to experiment.

Even the cheapo tstats have a very tiny bleed hole around 1/32", you can barely see it.

Probably won't be an issue now that thewarmer weather is coming but I'll pick one up and try one hole in the near future. Thanks for the help.

I always use the Robert Shaw / EMP stat with the built in by-pass - never a problem. They allow coolant to flow through the radiator constantly. I have also used the Moroso version of the balanced sleeve stat with mixed results. I got 2 defective ones in less than a year and some I've had last years.

I've done this with a single 1/8" hole and it works great.
