Clutch noise
Hi Guys,
I have a 6 speed Tremec T56 manual box and just recently I have occassionaly had a grinding noise when I depress the clutch. If I release the clutch and depress it again the noise is gone. Normally I would associate this with the clutch release bearing, but its intermitent and not constant. Also, and this may well be my imagination, but the clutch seems slightly heavier.
Any ideas?

Hi Graeme,
Just noticed you never got a reply to this, so is the noise is there with the pedal on the floor? If so it sounds like possible spigot bush/bearing or gearbox front bearing (very unlikely).
If its there with the clutch engaged (pedal up) and goes as you put weight on the pedal it sounds like possible release bearing. Did you go for the hydraulic clutch or stick with the mechanical linakge?
