Default Errr...Pretty Dumb Question - Headlights

OK, I know this is a pretty dumb question but after searching "headlights" under the C3 section I can't find a picture that shows what I need. I restored the headlight mechanisms with the rebuild kits from Ecklers, which I have to admit was a fun project, except for removing the assemblies out of the car.

My question is with regards to the small plastic "brackets" that attach the four metal buckets to the main headlight lid. They each have a have the long adjustment screws attached. How do these brackets attach? Per the AIM they attach by the screws but they have this curved tale which seems to be in the way of the nubs on the lid which support the metal buckets. Anyone, help, please anyone? Thanks in advance.

I'll have to go look, but I think there are 2 screws that connect the bracket to the bucket.

The only Dumb Questions are the questions that do not get asked!

The adjuster you purchased is actually a 1963-1967 adjuster bracket. It is common to use this in place of the original bracket since all you have to do is cut off the tail.

The original GM bracket was part number 5959752 which is pictured below. This should help you get your installation done, just cut off the tail with a knife and you'll be fine.

Typical: With GM selling one at around 10.00 under the new number I can cut a few tails off! I carry the tailed set too, so maybe I should put a note on the site tomorrow night.

Joe: Thanks, I posted on the other thread for the guy to send you a E-Beer. . . I saw my first E-thug the other day and I about feel off the chair laughing. So. . . my new suggestion e-beers. . .

My wife caught this image out of the corner of her eye this morning and was wondering why I was looking at a picture of male anatomy.

I told her to look closer. At least I know her state of mind today.

That's exactly what I had to do to get it to fit my 78.
