oil leak around distributor

oil leak around distributor

How can I stop the oil from leaking around the distributor and manifold? I have a gasket but it doesn`t seem to work very well.

bad gasket.... are you sure you have the round donut gasket on the distributor?

You might also want to make sure that you are not leaking oil from the gasket between the intake manifold and block at the back of the engine below the distributor. If that is fine then a nice new distributor gasket is needed.

Is your oil pressure sending unit up there? They can leak too. PG.

Use a little non-hardening sealer on the distributor gasket. That will help seal it as well.

Is there a specific brand or name for the sealer?

ooooo, and i did remember, on mine there is a place to put an oil sending unit near the distributor, although I have a plug there, it was leaking, and it could look as if it were coming from the distributor, put teflon on the plug and had no problems since..
