I took off the center console and e brake cover on my 77. A couple quick questions. Is the e brake cover braket suppose to lean towards the drivers side...or is mine bent that way?
And 2, just forward of the shifter, there is a mounting plate. On this plate is a flasher (on the right) and a relay on the left (drivers side). Anyone know what this relay is? When I hook up the battery it clicks loudly, and with a battery charger on...I get the 60 HZ hum from the charger in that relay. I think this might be the or one of the sources of my power drain. There are red, white and black wires going to this relay. Any thoughts are appreciated.
The relay is the Anti Theft Relay. It should connect to the anti theft horn (pink) and to the anti theft flasher (white) and the black wire to ground according to my Corvette Shop Manual.
Thanks Jim. I am pulling a good solid one amp on that relay. When I disconnect it...my draw goes away. I guess anti theft trouble shooting is in my future. Shouldnt be too hard...not many components. But, for now, I can leave that relay disconnected. Thanks again, and thanks for pointing my to corvettefaqs a few weeks ago about my steering colunm. Sure helped alot. Now I just have to get the new dimmer and plastic retainer thing I need, and Im all set.
