Default Which fiberglass?

Can anyone tell me whether a '75 C3 is made of Polyester fiberglass or Epoxy fiberglass ? I have some repairs to do and need to know which it is . Also, what fine surface filler would be best? Thanks Nick

Sorry if this thread has already been covered, but I can't find one on it.

your 75 is smc. what that means is it has a release agent in it to aid in the production process. it allows the pannels to release from the molds. you will need to use epoxy resin for your repair. then seal it with epoxy primer. i like evercoat rage gold for a finishing filler. if you need structure you can use fibertech filler by evercoat. it is smc compatible.

Is this SMC also the same for a 1970 vette?

I'd assume it was however assumption is also the mother of all failure so my boss keeps telling me.

i believe the 70 is fiberglass. the way to tell is to look at the insides of the fenders and firewall and if the surface is very smooth it is smc if it has a rougher pattern, it is regular firbeglass. they started doing some body pannels in 69 and intermingled smc parts up to 1974. then the whole car was smc. you can always be safe and use epoxy on polyester pannels and smc pannels but you cant use polyester on smc.

Here's a couple of pictures of my 71. They show the combination of materials as 2000 FRZ pointed out.
