Default Power steering question ?

I have a complete new front end installed, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, new PS pump, new cylinder, and new control valve, all items connected.
Started the engine, and stayed away from the steering wheel, wheel turned right quite fast as expected.
Removed dust cover on control valve and started turning counter clockwise, (nothing happened) with engine running you cannot turn steering wheel to the left, shut off engine and center wheels, start engine and again back to the right in a hurry,

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Phil, it sounds like you have the two small lines crossed on the end of the control valve. When they are connected properly, they will look like they are crossed.

I have left hose to right side of cylinder and the right hose to the left side of cylinder, from control valve. I believe they are right

If they look like this then you obviously have them correct.

Did you try turning the adjuster the other way? PG.

Counter clock wise will extend the cylinder and clock wise will retract it.

You should never adjust the cylinder with it attached to the frame bracket. Here is a link for detailed adjustment instructions.

Hope this helps.

Assuming that you have the hoses from the valve to the assist cylinder connected correctly, then I think you still have air in the system. Air can make the system act funny. Then I think that you need to try and adjust the nut on the end of the control valve.

We tried to adjust the nut on the control valve to the left but did not try to the right, we will give this a shot. Per instructions we only tried it to the left ( counter clockwise ).

On another note I just installed a 276 HR cam and new 195 AFR heads and this thing is running extremely well, can't wait to drive it. I went the cheap way first with a set of Pro Comp aluminum heads, crosswind intake, and a flat tappet solid lift cam. Most of these parts I bought from a guy that was on this forum for a very short time, all parts were poor fit and as far as I am concerd Junk. My new setup is 750 Mighty Demon (mech sec.) Weiand Air Strike intake, 195 AFR's and Comp roller cam. The difference is night and day. I am exhausting with Hokker Super Comp side exhaust.

Timing is at 36 degrees and the rest is going to be left up to the Dyno shop. Will let you all know what I end up with later.

Thanks to all
