Default '68 turn signal problem - what to do next?

Hello,

When the turn signal on my '68 suddenly stopped working, I though, it would be an easy fix. Just replace the flasher in the fuse box and I'm done. As it did not solve the problem, I decided to replace the turn signal switch assembly, as the turn signal switch was kind of lose and the hazard light switch **** was broken. When I did that and put new switch & wiring, to my dissapointment, the turn signal did not start working... Hazard lights are working fine.

Anyhow, if I place turn signal **** into "left" or "right" position and then press the brake pedal, only one side brake light goes on - the side, to which the turn signal **** is switched.

Any ideas, where to go next??? Many thanks in advance for helping me out

Check the grounds on the 4 lights housing at back.

No, I mean at the 4 lights at the back of the car, on 68 the both 2 light of each side at the back of the car are used as turn signal and brake light.

Also, check to make sure you have a good connection to the the half round connector at the wiring harness.

Thanks, I doublechecked this one, as I was assembling the steering column after turn signal switch change. Now I will look at 4 lights in the back, if grounding is ok.

And isn't the signal light flasher on the passengers side ?
The flasher on the fuse box should be hazards

The turn signal flasher relay is not located in the fuse box. It's located under the cig. lighter in early 68's and behind the pass. dash on later models. You replaced the hazards relay.

Replace the turn signal flasher and see if all the lights work properly.
