Mini starter adjustment to flywheel
I installed my Summit mini high torque starter yesterday.
The first one burned the solenoid a couple of weeks ago on its first trial after installation. Summit replaced it on warranty ( really great customer service ) .
Both, the first and the second one now required 8 shims to get the toth clearance right.
The SUMMIT instruction paper says not to use more than 4 shims.
I guess thats because of the grip length of the bolts, but thats still OK after removing the bolt head washer.
Anybody else had this adjustment problem ?
With only 4 washers, the starter gear hit the flywheel gear hard and had problems to engage.

Yes, should be OK for my flywheel.
8 shims is not a lot, 0.015 x 8 = 0,120 ", and the 4 extras I installed 0,060 " only, so nothing drastically wrong.
This starter motor can also be used on smaller flywheel by using the 2 other mounting holes on the adaptor plate.
