Default Steering Control Valve - HELP, HELP

Good monring fellow Corvetters!! So I need some advise and/or assistance. I replaced my leaky, 30Plus year old control valve and all the hoses. Went as expected with the Vette as nothing is that easy So i take the car out today and its pulling to the right and the Steering wheel is off center, again to the right. I counted the threads taking the Control Valve off (16) and put it back in the same way. But I did not balance the Valve as it was not moving on jack stands when running. Could I need to balance and that will resolve this issue? OR do I need to take the pitman arm off again and adjust the Valve??

Also, I have one hose connection that is leaking at the valve; should I just try and tighten that one up more to resolve?

Thoughts? It's going to drive me crazy!! Thanks for reading and offering any suggestions!!

Yes, you need to get the front wheels off the ground and balance the control valve....after you've exercised the steering system full-right & full-left a few times to get any residual air out of the system. Once balanced, you can then find 'running' center for your car and adjust the tie-rods to get the car to track with steering wheel centered-up.

Thanks for your help! I was hoping I could do something without taking the valve off.

With adjusting the Tie Rod ends does this lose the High point on the Steering? I just want to make sure I do this right, the first time.

Also can someone explain to me the balancing of the CV. what is meant by "one half the rotation to needed to change the direction of the pistion rod movement"?

One thing I have to say, THANK YOU JIM SHEA...does anyone have email address or a member ID so I can personally thanks this guy!!!! Awesome information....one day I'm going to be able to pass my knowledge off to someone....thanks again

With the rod end of the cylinder disconnected from the frame and the car on jack stands, turn the adjustind nut one way slowly when the rod starts to extend you stop. Now slowly turn the adjusting nut the other way, as soon as the rod moves in stop. Now turn the nut half way between left and right.

Thanks Pete; so half way between left and right is halfway to make the rod extend then to retract...

Turning the adjusting nut clockwise moves the cylinder out, counter clockwise moves it in, you want to be half way between in and out. PG.
