Default 1971 LT1, Engine code # & A/C Avail ?

Hi C3 fans

I am on the trail of an advertised !971 LT1 with A/C. I thought only the 72 LT1s had A/C.

What is the correct 5th digit in the serial # for the LT1 option ??

Is there a option sheet afixed somewhere on the C3s that show the options ??

Thanks for any & all help.

No 71 LT-1's with A/C or automatic trans.. There were some publications (Chilton Manual) and early GM info that were in error. It listed engine code CJK as a 330 hp and a/t . It was in reality a base (270hp) engine. So there were two codes for the base engine with a/t which is sorta strange. The engine ID digit you spoke of wasn't used until '72. hope this helps

As Silvervetteman says, 72 was the ONLY year the LT1 was offered with AC. This was because of the higher RPM limit of the solid lifter motor. I think the only other solid lifter small blocks available with AC were the 64 and 64 365HP cars. Check this car out carefully :) Might be a "base motor" car rebuilt to LT1 specs. Chuck

Ah, once again someone puts an LT-1 hood on a Vette and advertises it s an LT-1. This person obviously knows nothing about Corvettes or they wouldn't bother trying to pass that car off as an LT-1. This should tell you the value of anything else they say about that auto. Let this one pass.
