I've searched, but am not having luck finding a build for a manual rack and pinion. I found a couple on installing a grand am rack, but just want to see what parts people have used for the manual setup. I'll consider power later and hydroboost, but just want to do the manual setup now when I pull the motor in the next couple weeks.

Kevin....do they have a kit that they sell for Corvettes specifically?I carry all the flaming river stuff thru my new distributing place.I'd like to look into this to offer this here on the forum.
Thanks.
Kevin
I inquired ages ago and they told me the ratio was like 3.5 or 3.7 turns lock to lock (can't remember exactly) so i was immediately put off and didn't consider it anymore.
I am still waiting for the perfect steering setup to drop my money on be it re-circ ball or R&P, one hasn't come around yet, yeah there are some nice ones but they all seem to have their flaws, so until then its the stock system for me.

Yeah, I'm not interested in spending that much coin on a rack like that.. I'll look for dimensions on the grand am rack and try to find a manual cavalier rack of the same size. I know that they're available- a little more than the power racks, but they're around.
they don't offer the GA rack in manual but the power unit for the GA and the cavalier are the same unit, so I would think that the manual unit for the cavalier will fit the same as the GA.

Yes, they have a corvette specific manual rack. The cradle and components look beefier than the steeroids and it is advertised as a quick ratio.
the cavalier unit was what I had in mind, but I hadn't yet checked to see if they ran the same power unit. But, since they do, I'll probably give it a shot. Anyone have a link to a good set of directions/pics of a grand am rack install?
