Very nice setup, is that a 177 or 144/142 weiand blower? I have been eying off the 144 weiand blower for a long long time, but have had other things higher up on the list to do on the car before I get to that.
Please let us know what the difference is like, were you just running the standard engine before this one?
Yes i ran non blown engine for a long time and was not ever happy, built engine several times, each time bigger, the blower is like putting 2 engines in your car its awsome power.the one i have is the 144,i have had the 177,but it was too high too.Right now when i close the hood its only the injecter scoop that sticks out.
This is my old engine.
I will not have any of my vehicles not supercharged. So fun to drive and it is a good street blower ,no problems and very dependable. The bigger blowers have more problems. But they can be ironed out too.
One main thing that you will not like with a 671 is that it will be hard to see when you drive, the blower sticks up pretty high and abstrucks most all your view.I went with the smaller street blower ,weiand, because of the this problem, heres a pic of my engine,i will be putting it in today.
Im hoping to get 600 hp,You dont need a big blower to get good hp numbers, but the bigger ones will produce bigger numbers .I also have nos setup too, havent decided on it yet.
That is a really nice setup and sounds like you're going to get even more out of it than mine. Would love to know your spec and what you're planning to do to the drive chain. What Torque converter are you going to use? You're absolutely right about visibility and it is a major concern. I have a special low seat manifold for it which hopefully will bring it down a bit, but we'll have to wait and see on that. I was planning on Nos too, but decided that my life and engine come first!!If I can't do what I want with 500-600bhp then 'you win' springs to mind I know one or two people who've used it and now have blown up bullet proof engines!
Sounds like your car is going to be fantastic, keep the info coming.
Cheers Nick
Hi billysvette. Love your car, it looks great and the way that hood blends in with the scoop is spot on. (Unfortuately mine probably won't be as neat design wise) What parts have you upgraded ie torque converter, UJs shafts ,diff etc. Love some info.
Cheers Nick

Sounds like you already have the blower,so you have to go with what you have. This is your thread ,its about your engine i was just giving you some other examples,i dont mean to cut in on you I am running a richmond gear t10 trans, with aluminum flywheel.Your blower will put out more boost then mine and if you put the right parts on and in your engine you can by far put out more hp

My setup is for mainly the street,im tired of breaking things Ive put in three rears but could not afford a better rear, but down the road i will get one from toms .When you cut your hood,be real careful and take your time, like was said, your engine is not center.Everything in my engine is forged, and strong enough to take the hp i want ,but the rear is my weak link, all corvettes this is true especialy the c3s.I have a long way to go to finish my car,but im getting there,at a snails pace.

Yes, originally it was destined to go into a F-Type Vauxhall Victor, which meant no vis probs at all. Got the rare chance to buy a Vette to restore and jumped at it. I love them and always wanted one. One good thing is that the engine is now a bolt in setup No probs with your posts, infact I love reading about other peoples great cars...Keep the pics and info coming. Besides you usually find out other bits of info this way as people discuss the cars in more detail. I will post a photo when I go and collect it. I think my boost max's at about 10psi with the current pulleys. Cheers Nick

At last the engine is ready for dyno'ing. Be interesting to see what it pumps out. Hoping for 500bhp & similar Torque, but will have to wait n see. Looks like I might need to buy a periscope
About 25 years ago I helped put a 6-71 on a friends 73 vette. We had it running great for the first summer. Probably made a little over 500 hp with the blower running 6% under.
The next summer he decides to reverse the pulleys. The motor lasted about an hour after that.

That ties up with what I've been told ie. it should be around the 500hp figure. Advised not to run over 12psi boost if I want to stay safe & reliable Anything over that boost requires Dragster type head gaskets and full 'O' ringing of the block.
Has anyone reversed their pulleys with success?
This engine is only for the street and occasional strip use.

How much boost do you expect it to make? Looks like you have the blower somewhat underdriven.
You were right!..I take my hat off to you sir. Went on dyno for running in and was only producing 4psi! They borrowed a larger pully from another engine which took it to 6psi. Power with that one was 535hp. It's got to be power tested next week, so it might end up higher.
Well done, I'm impressed

The last blower motor I worked on was a 427 with an 8-71 Mooneyham blower and Enderle mechanical fuel injection for a boat. IIRC, we ran it 20% overdriven and it made 22-23 lbs. boost. That motor made right around 1100 hp.
