Not really familiar with performance cams, so asking the question:
Is it normal for the engine to shake really bad at low RPM or should it be steady with just a loppy sound? Mine shakes really bad until about 1100 RPM and then it go dead smooth. Thinking I may have a lobe problem?????? New cam install.

With a cam that size it will shake a little, but not a bunch.
But even though it shakes a touch, the power out put should feel pretty smooth.
It should not feel like a cylinder has a miss.
out of curiosity, what has been done to your BB besides the xe274. that is one of the cams i am looking at for my 454 and i am curious as to the power level, low end torque etc.
the comp cams site says headers and 2500 rpm stall to make it work correctly.
Well..I have the head reworked with bigger valves, demon carb, RPM intake, headers, gear drive...etc. The cam pulls enough vacuum, but is really hard on the auto tranny without a stall converter, idle is about 900. Doesn't start to really pull clean until about 2K. I'm looking at something a little less lopey for a daily driver. Looking at the Voodoo 20602.
