What is this orange wire? (engine harness)

What is this orange wire? (engine harness)
73 LS-4 with A/C. I've no idea to what this orange wire attaches. The assy manual isn't much help and neither are my wiring diagrams.

The engine harness splits near the A/C box; one side going to the starter, the other side includes this orange wire and the ground which goes to the blower (I hope).
I originally thought this orange wire went to the blower motor but was told that the purple wire goes to the blower.
(I attached the purple wire to the blower and the blower works fine. Thanks guys!)
Any ideas on this orange wire?

I may have sloved the mystery.
On page 401 of my 73 Assembly Manual there's a "Note" that says, "Cut orange wire within .25 of breakout & discard connector."
