when I pulled the running engine from my car, it had a Borg Warner coil on it. I am not sure if it is original or not but if so, how do I test it for functionality? My experience is these things rarely go out or get bad and if the do there is no in between. it either works 100% or it doesn't 100%.
HEI? or Conventional ignition? HEI, clamp it gently in a vise, 12v battery, ground the vise and 12v+ on the BAT terminal on the HEI. Then spin the dizzy gear. If it sparks, it's good.

Everyone please remember too that this thing works (fires) from a magnetic field. If you wave a soldering gun over the dizzy when it's powered it sparks. Please be careful. Not to mention getting bit by an HEI just plain hurts
Point ignition, just check continuity from the + and - and from the coil wire tower to them too.
