Default bolt holes in the engine

I am assembling a 79 corvette with a 350, it was in pieces when I started working on it so I have never seen one fully assembled and I have a few more questions.

First I have some bolt holes in the engine with no bolts in them, trying to figure out if I am missing any parts.

This engine has dart heads “C M7” is the number on them. The driver’s side has a hole for the temp sensor. What if anything should go in the same hole in the passenger side?

Second hole is close to the dipstick, looks to be a number 10 size. Is there a bracket that holds the dipstick on potentially?

Third set of holes above the oil pickup about 2 inches and then a second one about 6” closer to the front.

Forth set of holes on the top of the intake there are a number of them.

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
I'll take a stab at the 2 at the rear of the intake... they're for the mounting bracket for the coil.
Regards,
Alan

The ones by the oil sender could be for the clutch shaft pivot ball. The small one by the dipstick looks like a hole for the exhaust manifold heat shield, there should be two on each side.Just use a NPT pipe plug for the hole in your head!

The 2 holes in the first pic by the oil temp sender are for clutch shaft ball studs. A corvette would use the forward one.
The plug on the head, opposite the temp sender unit, would be for the auxilliary electric fan. If you don't have one, plug it.
The extra holes on the intake are for assorted brackets that you probably don't have. I've got nothing on my 79s that would mount in any of them, except maybe the tach filter towards the rear.
Missed that third one in the top pic. I agree, it's for the ignition shielding V shaped cover as there's no J shields on the driver side. Passenger side both the V and J shields bolt there.

Ok, for the ignition shields do you need them? Are there main purpose to protect the spark plug wires from the headers?

I found I have the J shields but I can’t fit them on, probably because the car has aftermarket headers that are shaped differentaly.

Thanks
Chris

The J shields are for heat, can't use them with the headers.
V shield covers the plug wires that go to the front plugs on each side when they're routed under the motor from the factory. For radio interference.
If you've run your wires over the top of the motor you won't use the 'V's.
