Default Engine Removal

I have just purchased a 1978 and due to the wet (oil) conditions I had found on the bottom portion of the motor, I am leaning to the thought that the Rear Main needs replacing.
I have checked the valve covers etc. and they appear to be fine.
My question is, how difficult is it to pull the motor? I have a lift and all the necessary tools to do any work and I have removed a few motors but not the Vette.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks and Happy Motoring,

piece of cake...easiest way with a chain hoist/come-a-long, if you have a cherry picker, with std.boom...then you will have to go from the side, and possibly remove the front tire...

To save work, support the tranny, and lift the motor out by itself...no need to remove the radiator. Remove the fan, and maybe the water pump if pump interferes with the shroud...

Remove coolant, disconnect hoses, electrical, remove shifter linkage and slide the trannie back as far as it will go (remove drive shaft) then out she comes. Cherry picker from the side worked well for me. Note I took the bell and flywheel off first for other reasons, but you don't have to to get the engine out.

If you decide to leave the radiator in, put a couple of layers of cardboard on it to protect the core in case the engine swings forward a little too much.
