I've never posted a thread so I hope I'm doing this right. Does anyone have any experience with a YearOne ct502pc1 crate engine? I was ready to go for the zz502 from GMPP but my brother directed me to YearOne. Its just under $6k and all it needs is a starter, carb and distributor to match the zz502. It winds up being $1200 less than the zz502 from Jegs. Jegs seems to have the best price for the zz502 at $8080. Either way I need to install an oil pan but other than the YearOne motor seems like a good deal.
should be the exact same motor minus the items you've mentioned...price out the individual items and see what the cost difference is and go from there...
You know I looked at the YearOne 454 and its $3k cheaper than the zz502 of course it minus the carb, pan, dizzy but those parts only come out to about $1200 so it is definitely on the roster. Like you said, everything of have heard about the zz454 is that it puts out the same HP minus a little torque.
What's the part number for the one you were looking at from GMPP?Your cost for the complate engine w/870 carb,starter,pan,dist.,wires,etc. is 8500.00.This is the GMP12496962 502/502.Everything ready to bolt in,but need air cleaner, and electric fuel pump.
why not build your own? Peacemeal...buy the block, crank, 4 inch or 4.25 inch no price difference....choose the cam of your choice, pistons C.R. of your choice...for the same amount or maybe less, your end up with more cubes, more HP....
