I'm shopping around for a front bumper for my 75 coupe and have seen a few post on here about how some do not have the best fit and require modification.
okay, so maybe all require some mod
But I was wondering if anyone had a very smooth install experiance and would share where they bought theirs from.
I'm looking at ecklers and yearone right now...
Also what are you opinions on fiberglass vs Urethane?
Thanks!
P.S.
It was missing when I bought it at auction...
I bought both front and rear fiberglass bumper covers from Ecklers. The front was a long way from fitting and required extensive modification of both the cover and the car nose. I ended up having to bond and 'glass the cover so it ends up seamless, which I actually prefer. The problems are caused by the car having been smacked in the front a couple of times by the POs so nothing would fit. The rear cover fit perfectly. If your car is unmolested, your front may fit as well. I prefer fiberglass covers because urethane tends to be "wavy" and paint color not quite right.
Good Luck !

Just replaced my 75's front bumper with a GM urethane one and it fits well. I had a body shop do it and asked them to recommend which type to get first. They said to get the GM urethane and not the repro urethane. I like that the urethane is more forgiving if I bump into something. It will degrade over time but the original urethane bumper lasted 34 years so I'm not too worried. My car is not an original color but the body shop matched it perfectly. I got the bumper from Willcox. They seem to have better prices than the other vendors on a lot of things. They also carry the Tru-Flex if you decide to go with that.
