Default rear end bangs occasionally 1980 vette

has any one had similar banging when punching the gas ?

it happens frequently but not all the time

seems like it slams into the next gear

Does the rear "crab" one way when you get on the gas and then back the other way when you lift off?

Have a quick look at the diff mount , it usually only does it on decel or accel, or any mounts for that matter , transmission mount , I'm guessing diff mount! Ron

It sounds like the snubber bushing on the rear end mount or it's time to change the rear lube and add the GM positraction additive.

the car doesn't seem to crab,,

just seems like a hard transfer to the next gear when punch the gas

Prob. the differential snubber then like others have said. Rotted T-arm bushings will cause the "crabbing".
