Around 1975 I purchased a set of what I believe were called Corvette Sport Mirrors from the local Chevy dealer. I had them painted to match my 1970 Cortez Silver C3 and installed them myself. As I recall the installation was fairly simple using rubber expandable bushings. As I recall, this was considered a dealer option at the time but may have been from an after market source. The Sport Mirror (Donnelly Mirror Co.) was a factor option for the C3 Pace Car and others models around that time (Option D35). I can find replacement mirrors from the C3 parts vendors but I have not been able to locate a complete kit as I did in 1975. I see references to a "bullet mirror" for a Camaro, Corvette, Skylark & Chevelle. However, I wonder if these mirrors are at all similar to the old D35. Does anyone know where to get D35 Sport Mirror? Thanks
As long as your not wanting a Corvette numbers matching mirror (if there is such a thing)...the long pedastal Sport mirror from any GM product will work for your purposes. I think I got mine from a Delta 88. They go for about $10 each in from the junkyard. The only thing that makes them "Corvette" is the plastic base gasket which adjusts the mirror to match the door. Those can be picked up from any of the reproduction houses for pretty cheap as well. heck if you do your homework you can even get a passenger side mirror with enough adjuster cable to put an interal adjuster within reach of the drivers seat so you can adjust on the go!
