Yes it can be done. The big "watch out" is: once you get the timing cover off, crank the motor until the timing marks on the sprockets are lined up. If you get the sprockets out of phase you will have problems. Make sure the new ones go in the same as the old ones came out.
You may want to consider removing the radiator to make life easier.
