Default Whipped cam?????

Kinda lost here w/what is happening w/my hooptie....
Had the 6x2s on the car befvore the move to TX,but other people were going to be transporting it,so......put on the old Torker 2 w/750 DP.Car runs great.Get to TX,and put the 6x2 back on,and front passenger side carb(crossram,so runs drivers side)has stuck needle, and starving for gas,and back firing.Drove the car like 6 miles, brought it home, and was trying to make car show, and no Fel Pro #1204 gaskets to me had,so installed another old school Torker 2 w/crossover,and some new gaskets I had.Had the car running decent, but thought that I had blown power valve w/the morning drip-drip-drips.Swap out for perfect Demon VS 750cfm,and get the car running w/new plugs.Idled okay, but popped under power thru the carb, and exhaust.Drove around the block, and no power.
Started checking ignition, valves, etc.Rechecked dist. location, and valve lash numerous times...grasping,and it is all fine,so started checking the coil.Coil is weak on primary side,so bypassed the TI,and dropped a Accel DP in,and got it running, but not right, then started committed suicide!God...I love cars!!!!!!!
Pulled intake for install of new Performer air gap,and looking at the cam,and the bottom of the lifters on the driver's bank, and they all look good. The bottom of the lifters are perfect, and this top end/cam change only has around 800 miles on it,and has been very peppy.
Ordered new MSD billet Corvette vacuum advance dist.,new wires, and purchased a MSD 6AL box,and blaster 2 coil from local racer from his race car he swapped for rail.Waiting dist. arrival......
Oh....forgot to mention in there....the flywheel ring gear was trashed, tried to band-aid w/new bendix to get running to get car to my shop, but got about 3 good turn overs, and pulled trans to swap flywheel!Did I mention how much I love cars!!??
So.....my question is.....if I whipped a cam.....I would see this right? The bottom of the lifters would have wear right? It all looks good.
Oh.....also,checked for vacuum leaks when the car was running like doo-doo for a couple minutes......
grrrr.......BIG Hooters car show this weekend, and hate to have to hide the work truck 75 out back in a pastur.
HELP!!!!!!
Thanks in advance, and apologize for the long narative.....
302...40 over flat=tops,w/350 crank,Brodix IK 180s,Erson 286 solid cam,PBM lifters w/oil hole,1.6 Harland Sharp rollers,so 544 lift,new double roller chain at time of install of the cam......

If you pulled the lifters and they were bad, you would see a scallop in the base of the lifter. You may or may not see anything on the lobe depending upon how far gone it was. The lifter is softer than the cam and will take most of the wear, which is why you look for the visual evidence on the face of the lifter. You can also get a feel for the status by observing the pushrods on a running engine. If the lifters are spinning in the bores -as they should considering the taper on the lobe and the convex lifter face- the pushrods will also be spinning.

Agree with the above and to add, sometimes the 'wiped' lifter can't be pulled from above. It's 'mushroomed' a bit and has to be dropped from the bottom.

I just pulled a wiped comp cam and the lifters normal. No major wear at all. I'll look for pics and post them.

There should be debris in the oil if a lobe is flat. Visually check the lift on all the lifters or measure the lift with a dial indicator.

Thanks for posting guys.I think that I am going to go ahead, and get a new cam on the way.If I'm not running the 6x2,then I can step it up alittle more.
I didn't see any particles on the magnetic plug when I changed the oil the other week.
Thanks fellas.
Could this be a ignition problem?I don't wanna hassle w/it,but it has all the characteristics of a whipped lobe.It idles decent, but pops under acceleration, and spits out the carb at times.
I didn't put a dial indicator to check lift, but i did do several visuals, and all looked good, but have one eye,and it is crooked......

Got your PM. Can't see it from here. Sounds like an ignition issue or vacuum or intake leak. Dual points are more difficult to adjust and most are worn somewhere and have seen lots of use and RPM. Im a roller cam guy you know and seem to get in an arguement everytime I make a recommendation. You should see a bad lobe either at the bottom of the lifter or the cam itself. If the lifters are rotating your probably good there.

You can't tell a worn lifter, unless it's really bad, by looking at it -particularly from the side, which tells you nothing. The lifter face is convex. If you put the lifter face on a completely flat surface, such as a piece of glass, the lifter should have a slight rock to it. It it sits perfectly flat, the face is worn.

Pretty clean on worn lifters, I had a 68 Chevy truck that the cam was so flat the lifters were mushroomed. A couple had to be pull from the bottom.

Forgot to mention, back then there was plenty of zinc in the oil.
