drivability
how often could i drive a 20+ yr old vette? i know alot of poeple say dont drive it alot but ithe one im looking at already has more than 80000 miles on it. would it be reliable to drive around like a daily driver? im not sure about getting a vette if ill only drive it 1 or 2 times a week for only 6 out of 12 months a year lol :jester

My '80 has about 94,000 miles on it and it is my daily driver. Has been since last April.
granted...I've been unemployed since late July, so it hasn't been driven as often as it would have, but it's been quite reliable for me.

My '72 has 126,000 and I beat on it pretty hard. It's not a daily driver, though. Depends on how well it has been maintained. Nothing that says a 20-plus year-old car CAN'T be a daily driver, is there?

It will still make a pretty good daily driver as long as things are OK. If its been sitting for awhile, beware though, you'll probably have a couple trips with the tow truck. Thats what happened to me. When I bought my '77, it had been sitting for 6 yrs previously, so when I started driving it regularly, there were lots of leaks and lots of original stuff needed replacing (brakes, radiator, water pump, etc)

Mine has 104,000 and is a daily driver. The engine itself is very reliable. It's basically a stock L82 and easy to work on. The main thing that you need to be careful on these cars is the frame and rear suspension. Check the entire frame for rust, and have the rear end inspected by someone who knows how to inspect a Vette rear end. Specifically, bearings, trailing arms, and differential. These are expensive things to fix and you should figure on fixing them ($2,000 if you do the install yourself), or look for a car where they have been recently serviced or re-built(with documentation). The other stuff should be checked as well, but as far as I'm concerned, those are the two basics that MUST be in good shape to consider it as a daily driver.
