Default Frame Numbers

I just purchaced a new ,used, frame for my 73 project because the original was in too bad of shape. My question is what do the numbers stamped on the frame represent? They are OS411913.

should be a partial VIN - they were stamped on the drivers side either in the door sill area or above the rear wheel

Would I be able to trace it to the original car or are these numbers not enough?

you need to know what year the frame is. 11913 is the last 5 vin of the car number of the year. if the O 'oscar' on your post is really a 0 'zero' then it is a 70 frame car number 11913... this extrapolates to a 1970 corvette vin 194370S411913 if coupe or
194670S411913 if convertible.. it came from that car.
so this original car would most likely be in the junkyard since it is missing a frame!

11913 is not in the 1970 registry and not in the c3 registry...I looked

Chime in if I am wrong.. I think this is how it works....

If it is a 70 frame, is it going to fit my 73 body?

Hi B,
I believe there is a little problem getting the front bumper extension bracket holes to line up with the holes in a 70-72 frame. But a drill seems to be the answer.

Thanks for all the responses! I got ahold of the guy I got it from and he looked up the numbers and confirmed it is a 70 but, like Allen said, there may be a few small holes that don't line up but that is easily taken care of.

I think you will find it easier to modify the bumper brackets than the frame rails. My 72 had front bumper bracket alignment issues with the 73 frame and it was very easy to modify the (replaceable) bumper brackets rather than drill the frame horns. Nobody but a NCRS judge would ever notice the difference.
