Default Cold air on a S/B

Is anyone out there running a cold air intake on a 350 car with the small block hood? If so what manifold/carb/hat combination are you using?

I was thinking performer/Holley double-pumper/spectre plenum, but the math doesn't work for the height.

Anybody know a setup that works?

All the 80 to 82 models had the dual snorkel cold air intake on them, can't remember what was on my 77, but I am pretty sure it did too.

I have been down this road. You have to watch out for the carb allowing the base of the air cleaner to fit correctly. If you have a serious motor. The dual snorkel air cleaner will cause for problems in getting enough air. I have had cars on a dyno and when the air cleaner lid was removed from the dual snorkel factory set-up. The numbers immediately increased. This is a very tight tolerance area and when it comes to the hood clearing properly...it takes time and alot of clay to check to make sure that if you have engine twist in the cradle under load, you don't damage your hood. If you don't have a "rocket ship" engine, I think a double pumper is a bit overkill. If you are having all that fuel go in and don't have a "good" ignition system to compensate for it, it is a waste. Also the exhaust has to be able to handle getting the fumes out quickly. I have had to seriously modify some air cleaner bases in my time to get what the customer wawnted and it was time consuming. It is a complete balancing act to get everything to be just right, and look right, and not a bunch of mess.
