In my 79 L-48, I replaced the spark plugs and wires about six months ago. I have a ticking sound that sounds like it is coming from the distributor. Can anyone give me any advice as to what I should do to get rid of the ticking?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

If the cap is slightly off the rotor can make a click. The pickup if not aligned can also click.

Just remove the cap and see if you can see if the rotor has been hitting.

When it's dark fire it up and see if you can see a spark arching somewhere. Could be a defect like a small hole in one of the wires.

Look for an errant spark. If there is any void in the plug wire the spark will seek the nearest ground causing a miss.
