Default Radiator for a 1974

Guys
with summer coming looks like its time for a proper radiator...
when we build this 1974 we just bought a cheap radiator...now with summer and air conditioning, what radiator should I look for?
Thanks

Just get a 4-core recore done at the radiator shop. The shop will use your radiator caps and put in the thicker core. I'm told the Big Block vettes had less than 4 core radiators. Anyways mine works great and cost a heck of a lot less than a new radiator.

Good luck,

Dewitt's is considered to be the best by most here and he is a supporting vendor. However my budget would only allow a much cheaper one which is working well.

Just finished putting in a Dewitts high performance aliuminum radiator in my 78 today and after 26 years of ownership, I think that I have finally solved my problem of the car getting hot on the highway, not in traffic, 220 degress on the highway when 90 degrees outside. Previously, I had a Robertshaw 180 degree thermostat, a new OEM type water pump, a new 4 core brass OEM type radiator, a lower hose with the correct spring in it, the OEm radiator shroud, an L-82 fan clutch fan etc and a dial back timing light setting total advance to 52 degrees at about 3,000 RPM, all to no avail. Today, besides the aluminum 4 core radiator, I replaced the water pump with a stage 2 Stewart Warner water pump and a high performance Robertshaw 180 degree thermostat. The car runs around 160 around town and did not go over 180 on the highway, although today was about 70 degrees, so the jury is still out but it definitely runs about 20-25 degrees cooler than before. I think that the mid to late 70's vettes often get temperature creep on the highway with the L-82's since the smog heads do not have adequate water circulation at high RPM which is a problem if you have 3.70 gears like mine. Hope that this helps.
