Default Rear End Problem? And Question

I have the rear end out of my car and here is what I see.

When I turn the front yoke, both the side yokes turn the same way. The car is a 1975 and is this normal. It has a positive tractkon rear end in it. The fluid looked good but the rear end looks like someone has been working on it before.

I thought the yokes should turn in opposite directions am I crazy?

If I turn the front yoke it feels real tight. If I loosen the front nut up on the pinion it then turns over real smooth.

The weird thing is that if I turn the front yoke left to right rear quick, then it feels like it is trying to lock up. If I loosen the front pinion it feels smooth when I do this.

Is the crush sleeve to tight?

Any assistance would be great! I really don't know how to do the picture thing but all I can tell you is what I feel with my hand and it is not feeling right.

This is the only one I can answer. Your rear is fine. This is how a posi rear would operate. If you had a posi rear with both wheels lifted and tried to turn one, they would both turn in the same direction. In a car with an open differential one tire would turn one way and the other would go the other way.

sounds like too much preload on the pinion bearings. New bearings should be 15-20 in/lbs drag on the pinion brg only, total is about 25-28
Used bearings this will drop to about 5 in/lbs.
You don't want to back off on the pinion nut it should be set tight. Install a new sleeve & seal.
