Those mirrors have two threaded studs that when installed will be bolted inside the door. If you do get these type of mirrors make sure you get the correct plastic gasket that mounts between the mirror and the body. Also it is important how the gasket is oriented. If it is on wrong than the mirror will be very close to the glass. If you turn it 180 than it will be further away which is correct. I have a 82 with the mirrors you are speaking of.
Good Luck

You need the glass removed from the door to make this change. You will need to do some hole cutting in the sheet metal of the inner door to be able to put nuts on the studs for the mirror mounts, and to be able to get a socket on them. You will also need to remove your original mirror mount, and glass up the holes in the door where it was riveted.
Also before you go and pay a premium for "Corvette Bullet Mirrors" head over to the junk yard and pick up any long pedestal Bullet mirrors off of any other GM vehical. I know Delta 88's use the long pedestal Bullet mirrors. Then order the plastic gasket from Zips http://www.zip-corvette.com/Zip/prod...612FFAD84187BD
Should save a ton of cash to get the look you want. You could even get a passenger side mirror with the extra long adjuster cable so you can mount it closer to the driver.
