I just pulled the factory a/c off my 77. Split the underhood box, took the radiator overflow bottle off and it came right out. Took some turning and twisting, but it came out.

do you have factory ex manifilds or headers or?
Headers. Short tube, nothing special. It was very tight getting the heater blower and the right end of the box out, but it did come out. One of those "gotta' turn it just right" things.
