Can someone tell me where the purple wire that feeds the blinkers in the steering column gets its 12v from? All I need to to do is get 12v to that purple wire and my blinkers will work.. I jumped 12v to it in the steering column and they started working.. They havent worked since I bought the car..
My 69 wiring diagram shows the only purple wire to the connector goes straight to the flasher- it's pink on the other side of the flasher and right to the fuse block from there.

There has to be something in the middle then because the purple wire on the flasher is #14ga and the purple wire on the end of the steering column connector is like #18ga.. I also tried jumping 12v right to the purple wire on the flasher and I'm still not getting 12v at the column.
I think I found out what happened. Bubba had an alarm system on here and the purple wire at the flasher module goes into another harness This outta be fun..
The Doc Rebuild colored wiring diagram I have for my 71' shows a pink wire coming from the fuse box (Turn signal fuse) going TO the flasher and the Purple wire coming FROM the flasher to the turn signal connector on the steering column. There is also a 2nd pink wire (18 gauge) on the flasher connector that goes to the backup light switch.

You put 12 volts to the purple at the steering column ? You mean at the harmonica connector ? And they started to flash ? Thats odd because thats the wrong side of the flasher to make it flash. Putting 12 v to the purple should have just made them light up but not flash. It should be interesting to see how that alarm is wired.

I was actually probing under the steering wheel where the blinker and E-flasher buttons are.
Actually I found 12v on the brown wire in the column so I jumped over to the purple wire to see if the blinker woud light up and then it started flashing. What really freaked me out is that I didnt even have the B-flasher module plugged in Then I realized the brown wire is the 12v for the E-flashers so the E-flashers are what made the blinker flash.. Are you confused yet
Anyways I did figure it out.. The purple wire was cut just past the past B-flasher module and then spliced into an alarm system, which didnt work anyways so I cut it back out and spliced it back in where it goes and I now have a perfectly working bilnker system
I cant believe I have ALL the lights working perfectly now when none of them worked when I bought it

Not confused at all you just explained why and that makes perfect sense.
Good job , glad you got it working. Wiring can be fun especially when it works when your done.

Your right it is fun when things work out in the end.. I used to wire and debug automation for GM and Chrysler and my skills finally came in handy for something
