Default ac issues

My 75 ac isn't working. Here's the symtems. It seems I have multiple problems:

The compressor only kicks on when the switch is set to vent or something like that. It doesn't when the ac is actually turned on. There is no cold air coming out the vents and not alot of air coming out at all. Could this be a switch issue? I can hear the fan blowing but not getting alot of air out the vents. Thanks

You need to let me know if you can tell that the fan has ALL of its settings operational. Mainly the high setting. This is for starters.

You may not want to hear what I have to say, because it is common problem dealing with air flow and IS a PAIN to correct.

As for the compressor not kicking in until the control is set to "vent" may be in the a/c-heater control unit. Does the indicator go all the way to the top and also to the bottom? If not it may not be "clocked" correctly and need replacing or service, which is also a pain.

Please reply and let me (us) know what you have found.

Like the other Poster said, you have given us very limited information. As for not much air coming out and not being cold...it could be a wide range of things ; heres a menu : The system is low on charge, the fan motors bearings may be worn preventing it from coming up to speed, the cooling coil and/or the heating coil may have alot of dirt and debris on the air entering surfaces due to its age, same for the blower wheel thereby diminishing airflow , you could have a leak(s) in the system , the cooling coil could be freezing up thereby drastically reducing air thru it and hence at the outlets, your heater water valve might not be closing fully thereby allowing some hot water to go into the heater which will re-heat the cooled air up, etc... Obviously, you need to take it in to a qualified mechanic, preferably someone who is familiar with your generation Corvette. Let us know in this thread, the outcome. Regards.

The roll controls get finicky.
They have vacuum ports and open and close mix door and heat, defrost and vent.

This is a valuable part and be careful.
Some cleaning and inspection can get it working again.

Sorry for the lack of info guys. I checked the hoses from the compressor and they are getting ice cold. I know the compressor is atleast working.
As for the switch.... I know there has to be some kind of problem because the compressor isnt kicking on until the unit is set to "level vent". AC setting does NOT kick the compressor on. If I order a new switch, does the 3 port vacuum valve come with it or do I also need to order that?

I should probably check all the hoses for leaks also

When I took out my system on the 77 the Evaporator was 3/4 full of dirt & debri. It was rusted and leaking. The vac operated vent flaps were also rusted and stuck along the pass side that feed from the windshield wiper cowl area. After replacing the crappy A4 compressor 2 times and a blower fan I gave up and trashed the system for a sanden compressor Hot rod air system. Best thing I did. ($1,200.00).

I checked the fan and it seems to work on all functions. WHen it is turned to the off possition it still blows a bit but I think this it normal with the older vettes. It seems to be blowing hard "somewhere," but there just isnt much coming out of the vents. I can hear it though.

Only ONE of the hoses from the compressor should be cold, and that is the suction line . The other line should be very hot coming out of the compressor and that is the hot gas line.
