Hello Fellow Vetteheads,
Will be putting my new Patriot block hugger headers on this week and decided while at it to change out belts/hoses. When looking at these it asks if my vette is an early or late edition????????? how would I know??????
Thank You All in Advance for your HELP
Peter
Some late 76's used parts normally associated with the '77 according to the Black Book, but it doesn't say what constitutes a late edition. One way to look at it is that since there were 46,558 built that year, use the sequence number in your VIN to see where yours falls in line. If your VIN is in the first half, it's likely considered an early edition. If your VIN is in the last quarter, it could be considered a late edition.
Other than that I would try to determine if your '76 has any '77 components on it, particularly interior pieces. If it has a number of '77 unique pieces, it's also likely a late edition.
A couple things I have noticed on my late. The anti theft alarm is armed in the door lock, and not the fender. The air conditioning has the small compressor, not the long one. I have a 77.
My 77 has the alarm switch on the fender so I thought it was a early. I ordered weather stripping for the T-tops and it had late T-tops. I guess I have a hybrid.
