Can anyone here give me a specific number in regards to.... out of the 4,943 1973 verts produced.... how many 73 Convertble, 4-speeds were produced? I have tried to research this number and I get close but maybe someone here would have a more definitive answer for me.
Nope, the detailed breakdown doesn't exist. The records from St. Louis were destroyed. The closest you can do is to use the black book or other sources to approximate the percentage of cars that were verts and 4 speeds and approximate the final number.

Well, it was worth a shot...I thought.... just maybe someone knew, or had more / better resources than I.
If.....and that's a big "IF"..... I have done my math correctly, I would approximate that at the most 500 Verts were 4-speed's. Depending on how you run the numbers....total number of Coupe's (25,521) vs Vert's (4,943) and the total number of 4-speed's (3,704) produced with 41.2% of all being 4-speed's......this end production number may be much lower. Maybe as low as 100.
GM made 5X's the amount of coupe's than they made Vert's this year......
Any math guru's here....because I surely am not? This would be a great math lesson for your child / student. So, unless proven otherwise....(math wise)....I think I am going with the 100 number.
30464 total cars produced in 73. 3704 4-speeds = 12.1%. 12.1% of 4943 verts is 601 4-speed verts.
That sounds...look's reasonable...but, I have been burning up the calculator this morning and with taking into consideration GM just didn't split the number between the Coupe and the Vert,.....I guess we will never know. Hey, I was close with the 500 number....I figured that since they made 5X's more Coupe's I could lower the number by a factor of 5.....giving me the 100 number. Regardless, there can't have been many.
Thanks for your reply....

Actually, this number is very wrong.
3704 Corvettes in 1973 had the optional M-21 4-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission. 17,927 cars had the M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission (58.85%). The balance of the cars had the M20 wide ratio 4 speed manual.
If the OP has an M-21 close ratio, then we can say it is one of approximately 601 M-21 verts. Unfortunately, he did not specify if it was an M-20 or M-21. 8,833 Corvettes were made in 1973 with the M-20, which means there was a total of 12,537 Corvettes with a 4 speed transmission in 1973 which was 41.15% of the total. This means that we can estimate that 2,034 convertibles had 4 speed transmissions (601 M-21 and 1433 M-20).

Its a M-21....So, for all intents and purpose's...I will live with the 601 number. I put the calculator away....it was driving me zooey! But, you are thinking in the same train of thought I was....trying to guesstimate is just that...but, at least I have a good educated guesstiment.
Thanks for all the input....I am sure someone else here will have another point of view...math wise.

Jumping in on an old post. I have a 73 4 speed convertible. I know only 788 Vettes had the shoulder belt option (standard on coupes), so I start my number with 788.
About 40% of all 73's were 4 speeds. So 788 x 40% = 315.
Mine also has PO2 wheel covers, 6% of all production. So can I figure the 315 x 6%? That would be around 20 cars.
If 20 makes sense mine also has PS, PB, and AM FM Stereo.
