Hello all...a few weeks ago on a Saturday morning while driving through some mist (also known as 'June gloom' here in SoCal) I hit the wiper switch in my '70- the wiper door came up as expected but after that nothing- no wipers no matter what. Today I found a John Pfahnstiehl-authored troubleshooting article in an old issue of Corvette Fever and began investigating the problem with that as a guide. I made sure the override switch was in the ON position and did all the current checks prescribed in the article (checked all the power and grounding circuits as well as correct switch operation). I couldn't find any problems related to powering the wiper motor. The red power wire had power with the wiper door up (limit switch good), black ground wire was grounded, motor housing was grounded, and the three wires to the connector on the bottom of the motor showed power at the correct switch positions. My question may sound like a stupid one at this point, but if all that stuff is OK, is that a sure indicator that my wiper motor is bad, or are there other things that I need to check before I spring for a new motor? It seems a little strange that something that was working fine all this time would just up and quit...Secondly, if it does indeed turn out to be a bad motor, who among the many vendors out there would some of you recommend for replacing such an item? Thanks in advance!
If you do not use it much in SoCal. You probably have dirt/dust on the contact points. IF checking ALL of your circuits and they are ALL correct in relation to the wiper switch position when being checked. I would bet on the points being dirty. It happens to me alot when the cars are really nice and mainly stored and NEVER driven in the rain. And then they go to use the wipers and nothing. I can walk you through cleaning the points but you must have a dremel tool due to having to open up a hole a little bit to get access to the points/contacts. Call me. You will want to have your wiper motor removed before calling me and have the dremel tool with a small drill bit in it 1/8" or smaller.

Reason: typo
Sounds like you have all the POWER requirements but you failed to mention if you have the all important ground from the switch.
Try this:
With the wiper door in the up position (limit switch depressed)
Key On (yellow hot)
Leave the 3 wire plug in place
Now take a short piece of wire and ground one end and with the other end touch the Light Blue wire connector at the motor and ground it.
Motor should run if its good(AND the motor case is actually grounded)
Here is a pic with a red arrow pointing to the light blue connector you need to ground. (Ignore the orange circle)

Thanks for the quick replies guys. DWncchs, I'll give the jumper wire trick a try as soon as the Sears Point race is over! Grandmastercorvette, if I do wind up having to remove the motor I'll definitely be in touch. If there's a way that I can take it apart myself and fix it for few $$$ (new/rebuilts look kinda pricey) I'd much rather go that route. Thanks again!
Go to this link and upload this file. It will tell you in detail how to check the motor before you remove it from the car. If you have removed it it will also tell you how to bench test it. If you don't figure it out, I'll be back in town on Friday and you can email me direct at willcoxcustomerservice@willcoxcorvette.c om
