Default 69 Dash wiring harness

I need some help with the installation of the main wiring harness in my 69 SB/AC/Auto. I had the harness replaced. The driverside courtesy light doesn't reach the housing. When I tried to install the dash it doesn't fit properly. The a/c ducting doesn't fit properly. Could the main harness be twisted? What suggestion do you have?

Thanks for Your help.

You've obviously installed the new harness, to a point.

Prior to install, did you lay out the new harness next to the old? Even if the old has patched in links, I can't imagine every circuit was also patched. Or could it?

I've learned not to be too quick in discarding fitted worn, repaired, or replaced components until the new component has been verified (or as closely matched as possible) to the piece leaving the car.

Many fitment issues are discovered when making those comparisons. Ensure you received the correct harness before stepping farther into the project. Hate to see you lose more time.

DUSTUP Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I did not do the intial installation. I had it done by a bodyshop. I noticed the problem when I inspected the dash fit. I believe the harness is correct but I don't have the old one to compare with the new one. My other tip off was the wire to the light was either to short or the harness was improperly installed. Any other suggestions?

Thanks
Jim

How does the rest of the installation look? is the rest of the harness nicely pulled up and out of the way, with no wires stressed or pulled? If everything else is working without issue, just solder in a splice to the light and cover it with heatshrink.

The trunk of the harness seems to have an obstruction, not permitting the tach/odometer dash to fit properly. It seems to be pretty tight. I think I will take it back out and start again. Thanks for the help.

I don't know if this will help you, but the photo below shows how the main harness needs to be pulled up and over the top of the speedo/tech units with the main breakout centered between the two (this is my 71' w/o air)

What I was going to say. If everything else is good, just make it work this way.
