has anyone ever used the vir eliminator kit? how do they feel about it. or does anyone ever have problems with the original vir set up? im replacing everything or my a/c and i just want some peoples opinions. also i am retro fitting it to r134a. are the big a6 compressors okay with that. i heard different viws too. i never had a car where i had to retro it a/c before. i have done it to other peoples cars but never my own.
After doing several different things to my air which was a VIR setup, I finally have temps that will freeze me out of there.
Here is what I did:
1. Fan from a C4
2. Sanden compressor, brackets from Alan Grove
3. Accumulator type evaporator from an '82 with orifice tube, bolts right in.
4. Crossflow condensor, made my own brackets using the old ones. Get the largest that will fit.
5. '82 Accumulator, got the condensor, accumulator and evaporator from A/C kits. Can't beat their prices.
6. Custom hoses from a local shop.
7. Used 134
This can be done for about $700 plus charging it up. I have a vacumn pump so the charge cost was small. R134 is cheap. Also don't forget to add the oil.
I used 8 oz of oil and a little more than 2 cans of freon.
