79 auto trans. removal ?????

Default 79 auto trans. removal ?????
how do you hold the engine up, when removing the auto transmission.
is it ok to put a board under the oil pan with a jack, or do i need to get on the side edges of the pan?

I do it with the jackstand & board right in the center. The pan is pretty strong.

If you find you need to tilt the engine/transmission assembly much to get at some bolts or whatever reason, remove the distributor so it doesn't hit the firewall.
